Nicole & David BLYTH, welcome you to Buzzy Cluck Farm on the web.
Buzzy Cluck Farm is the realisation of a dream, the dream of becoming self-sufficient for food and possibly power and to live in a more relaxed environment, please feel free to look around the site and follow us on this exciting journey. This new Buzzy Cluck Farm website was launched on the 16th April 2012, to mark the First Anniversary of us moving to France.
Who Put The Buzzy in Buzzy Cluck?
Thank's to Yvonne Richardson and her lace making class we now have Bee's on Buzzy Cluck Farm. Yvonne was chatting to Corrine a local farmer whilst in class and it transpired that Corrine and her partner Michael kept bees, of course Yvonne being the stalwart that she is told Corrine all about us on Buzzy Cluck Farm and Corrine said she would let Yvonne know when her bees swarmed and then we could have a two swarms.
Well only twenty four hours later we got the call from Yvonne saying that Corrine and Michael had a swarm and within minutes they both arrived at Buzzy Cluck Farm and after a short conversation about the Warre Hives we were using off we went to collect the swarm from Les Verger a hamlet in the Nouzerines commune not more than five minutes away.
Corrine and Michael worked very well as a team and the bees were promptly collected in the swarm box they had dropped in to from the tree and before we knew it they were back at Buzzy Cluck Farm.
It was good to see the care and attention that they took in getting the bees in to the Warre Hive which proved a little more complicated than expected, but all the bees are now safely in the hive and we are pleased to have them on the farm.
Corrine and Michael took away one of our Warre Hives to collect the next swarm directly in to the hive so save a lot of time and effort, so we hope to have more bee's in the not too distant future. So it was a real team effort but we got there in the end.

Catherine et Patrick QUERE
In early May we had the pleasure to visit a self-sufficiency farm run by Catherine et Patrick QUERE in Bussiere-Saint-Georges not more than 10 kilometres away from our own farm.
The farm is part of the Bienvenue a la ferme au Pays Creusois 2012 scheme here in France, where farmers open up there farm to the general public. The visit was inspirational, Catherine et Patrick have run the farm for the past ten years and have a fantastic set up, some of there ideas are amazing and will be implemented on Buzzy Cluck Farm, like the storage of dried meat, processing of home grown pork, utilisation of a natural water course and many others.
One part of the tour we really enjoyed was the Cider sample we were given it was so smooth and tasty, those of you who know us will know that I am not a drinker, unlike Nicole! but this cider was second to none and the process was so very simple, we will certainly be implementing the same little process in our cool room and we have already obtained a nice Oak barrel for the purpose.
If you are in France and get the chance why not pick up the local Bienvenue a la ferme brochure and visit a farm in your area or the area you are visiting.
Help Put The Buzzy in Buzzy Cluck Farm
In preparation for project Bee we have now created an Apiary at the back of the orchard. The Apiary consistis of four Warre Hives all in a nice neat line, each one with the entrance facing south east. But and it's a big BUT we don't have any Bee's in the hives, so at the moment Buzzy Cluck Farm is all Cluck and no Buzzy.
So how can you help us put the in the Buzzy in Buzzy Cluck? If you live in the Creuse (Area 23) or the Indre (Area 36) in France and you get a Honey Bee swarm causing a problem in your garden or a friends garden, please contact us and we will happily come and remove it at no cost to you. If you know of anyone who is selling Bee's for whatever reason on Frames or in Hives, please let us know as we would really like to fill our hives as soon as possible.

Cowboy Builder - Desmond Dainty
We are not going to beat around the bush here, when we first came to France after buying the Farm we employed an English builder to renovate the Farmhouse to our requirements, on the 27th December 2010 we parted ways with the builder due to appalling quality of the work.
On the 15th April 2011, we moved to France full time and have spent months repairing, putting right and making good problems caused by the builder.
Many people we have met already know about this builder and his appalling substandard work, but many don't and any new people like us may get misled in to possibly using him and having the same problems we have had, so I am going to name and shame him, his name is:
Desmond Dainty of Double D Renovations & Home Improvements, he lives in Clugnat, his phone number is 05 87 96 02 44 his mobile is 06 33 19 99 64 and his email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . I have 100's of photos of his appalling workmanship and I can assure you that he is a total stranger to the concepts of level, square, upright, quality, regulations, code and trustworthiness, please avoid this man and his company at all costs, if you do use him you will experience nothing but heartache and pain and the house you dreamed of will become a nightmare.
To Desmond Dainty: Here is a challenge, if I am lying, you will have no hesitation in taking me to court for slander, but remember I have the detailed photos of your work and the evidence of the builders who put it all right and brought it up to the standard required.
